User Reviews about LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

I appreciate how fast the game got to us. I will definatly check to see if you have the product I am looking for in further purchuases. -- Thanks for the speedy delivery
have played every single lego game for wii/xbox and all are glitchy, i expected as much on harry potter, however, i haven't ever had a problem getting 100% in all the other games but this one, we are at 97% and i think that is all we can get do to glitches, very frustrating, also i don't like the set-up for freeplay in this game you have to go online and research to fiqure out where you are and how to get to certain place, and it takes forever to get to a section you need to get too. i much preferred stars wars, indiana jones 1 and batman setup then i do to the newer indy game and this one, but it is a fun game, i am hoping that lego stars 3 is much better, but i expect glitches too. i recommend this game if you enjoy the lego series, but wait for it to get cheaper than $30, not worth $50. -- fun, glitchy, but annoying
My grandson is captivated by this game. He reports it's the best one he's ever played even though some of the puzzles are very hard for him and it takes him a while to solve them. He is tenacious though and eventually works them out. He has been recently enamored with Harry Potter after a marathon movie session during a vacation where it rained a lot. When I was in the store recently looking for a new computer keyboard, he strayed to the computer game section and returned with this.

I'm not happy with the price, which I think is high for this sort of thing, but I'm happy that he's so happy with the game and know the problem solving skills he's learning while playing it will be valuable to him for the rest of his life. He loves Legos and enjoys building parts of scenes from these games for direct play so the format here is appealing to him and he thinks the graphics are great.

After reading some other reviews about glitches, I specifically asked him if he noticed things that didn't work correctly, but he said he didn't, so perhaps that's a more adult perspective.

Bottom line, my nine-year-old couldn't be happier with the game and highly recommends it, so I do too. It's probably important to note that he's experienced with such games and pretty bright so the 10+ rating is accurate and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for younger kids who might become frustrated.
-- Nine-year-old LOVES it
My kids and I are huge fans of the Wii Lego games. Overall, I felt the game-playing was equal to Indiana Jones and easier than Star Wars. Searching Hogwarts for the red boxes, gold bricks and missing characters was a bit more challenging, but loads of fun. The mini-movies were funny and overall the graphics were incredible.

However...this game has more glitches in it than the Indy and Star Wars games combined. That's what it felt like, anyway. We felt a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT with the end of the game--probably the biggest glitch imaginable: not being able to re-enter Hogwarts once you unlock Voldemort. Here's what happened:

My daughter and I still needed to search for 2 red boxes and roughly 5 more characters. They are hidden on the Hogwarts grounds, which is a lot of area to cover. We decided we would searching the missing items after we assembled the gold bricks. We found all the gold bricks and proceeded to Knockturn Alley where we assembled the bricks into a portal. The mistake was entering the portal and playing the Bonus Round. We unlocked Voldemort, bought him, played the game again in Free Play mode and proceded to the Leaky Cauldron where we tried to re-enter the Hogwarts grounds. Unfortunatley, we kept getting kicked to Knockturn Alley. After spending many hours playing the game, not being able to reenter Hogwarts was terribly frustrating, especially since we discovered that one of the boxes we needed had something to do with a Christmas theme.

Overall, the game was fun, but I'm not sure it's worth the disappointment we suffered at the end. I researched this glitch online to see if there was a way around it. I could find no solution from other gamers other than not unlocking Voldemort. -- Fun, but GLITCH-FILLED
